It was hot, going on humid, with a little rain. The core crew showed up spinned would have been a pass out spazzy fun dance party, if only the youth of NYC had known. One lone dancer found us and respected the music shaking her glow stick wrapped pants. We all ate jerk chicken and roti. It felt like a real summer.

Do not adjust your screens, Queen Bee's is this red at night.

Russel had a killer Paul McCarthy record.

New projector is not easy to use.

Cassette night was highly anticipated by Doppler and I for months. It was a fun chunk of music. Everyone pulled off great powerful sets, even if queueing on a walkman bites. I wonder if the abrupt and inconsistent style of Vinyl club night is offensive to onlookers. Our bartenders are enthusiastic about the music, or its vibes, or its well watered members. A listening party is hard work. You have to stand by

the turntable for nearly 20 minutes waiting to play the b side.

Another one of those events where 2 hours before the start everything sort of slips apart. I'm over it people. The show goes on, and everything gels. Beer and really good music helps, so do a few friends. So goes the nightlife. We had fun. Extra thanks to Volume 1 Brooklyn for joining us.

extra excited about the BT album.

the listening party per se. They all agreed they liked the album
and signed up regardless.

thing that's happened to me."

Though they only released a handful of songs during their two-year lifetime, Black Tambourine has been hugely influential in the world of indie music. Conceived of as an explicitly pop band at a time when such bands were pretty rare in America, Black Tambourine wore their influences on their sleeves: The Jesus & Mary Chain, of course, but also folks like Phil Spector, Smokey Robinson, Love, The Ramones, Shop Assistants, The Pastels, 14 Iced Bears, Orange Juice and the list goes on.

Vol. 1 Brooklyn is a culture blog for the literary-minded. The site was created and is maintained by Jason Diamond with help from several regular and semi-regular contributors.

Monday Night (sometimes other nights) Vinyl Club is New York City's finest “you bring, you spin it” open deck DJ party hosted by DJ Doppler (Brett of The Mugs) & DJ Okay (Naomi, Cantaloupe Alone).

The new tradition at Bell House is a dance party starting around 12 am. Thanks to Brett, Perrie, Esy, and Jim we took around 120 pictures of the hilarious unofficial presidential masking wearing edition. It was fun and, again, I don't think we annoyed the bartenders too much.

KKDD's first show 2005 @ Snoozer Loser Color War Glasslands in Brooklyn

Some of you have received invitations and flyers announcing that King Kong Ding Dong will DJ with A Sunny Day in Glasgow on Monday December 14th. With or without KKDD mastermind Steve Ice this is true. Medium-mind Ben Daniels (of ASDiG) is a founding member of KKDD. ASDiG branched out from KKDD around 2006 maintaining harmonious connections.

It was confirmed by text message (Saturday night!) that more members of KKDD will try to get to Monday's Vinyl Club adding a possible third and more complex layer to MNVC. Steve and Ben DJing together reunites The Shoot Up Crew (and Strap On Your Jammy Pack?) DJ team. What could be greater? Answer, the whirlwind dance party that follows. Please join in the since-high school antics and high jinks. Other confirmations include Christmas cookies, record swapping, Doppler's mighty crate of trance, still waiting on Tastee Cakes to offer sponsorship.

Friends, ginger bread, new records, beer, sequined holiday sweaters, a larger than life projection of burning logs are the meaning of the holidays at Bell House on Monday. Its Vinyl Club's way of say we care when Hanukkah and Christmas come around. A Sunny Day in Glasgow will be tobogganing down the big Brooklyn hill to spend the evening with us, spinning their favorite songs, and maybe reading us a Christmas tale. Please bring your old records to swap for new ones.

The New York Times reports that sales of vinyl and turntables has been increased despite the death of cds. I would like to credit the members of Vinyl Club, though the Times article brushes us off for a video game. A good assortment of other media sources are paying attention to Monday Night Vinyl Club, and thereby helping vinyl's perpetual rotation: Brooklyn Vegan, Brooklyn Vol 1, IMPOSE, AV Club, Music Maven Shirley Brah, Our Fair City's Photographer Sam Horrine, Metromix, Brooklyn Paper, Eventful, Going, even the NY POST.

Tonight's party (MNVC #13) has been coming a long time. Months for us, but say, 20 years for Slumberland Records, who we are honoring as their anniversary approaches later this week. Its gonna be pop music this and pop music that tonight when The Pains of Being Pure at Heart show up to DJ a special set for us too. Before hand we will be taking Brilliant Colors and Pants Yell! new albums for a spin. I am sure we will have some old school classic D&B and Jungle too.
